The-wa #5 Arrived Today

thewa banner

After a long wait, my The-wa has finally arrived today!  I took a few snap shots of him. His box is made of demine clothe. Although it looks very simple and is handmade quality, I quite like it! Things inside are padded with die-cut foam firmly to allow long and turbulence travelling.  I am surprised to see that with their limited production quantity, they have their own shipper with logo and email contacts printed on top!

Thewa #5

The-wa dressed in his white v neck vest and a white underwear.  He came with all 4 different expressive hands!  He is a wonderful doll…just that the painting on the veins on his arms and hands need improvement.  One default black middle parted wig is included. Now, he demands more wigs to go with his dating with different girls in the house!professionalpackaginNot just any cartoon box, a box with Deva Dolls logo and contacts printed.

The Kouklitas are a line of 27” fashion rag dolls conceived by New York City based artist and illustrator Andrew Yang. The name originates from the Greek word for doll, koukla. Each doll is cut from a pattern, sewn into muslin, and meticulously stuffed and attached by hand. The faces are all hand painted, and the dresses are created using luxurious fabrics and couture sewing methods.

Andrew spent his childhood in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he grew up around his mother’s collection of Madame Alexander dolls and eventually acquired his own collection of high-end fashion dolls. His hobby was put on hold when he moved to New York to pursue fashion, an industry he worked in as an assistant designer for several years. Longing for another outlet for his creative outlet, Andrew created his first doll from scraps of muslin in the summer of 2008. He currently works as a freelance photographer, illustrator, and designer, all while creating The Kouklitas out of his Brooklyn based studio.

If you are interested in buying any OOAK puppets of Andrew’s , you could find them in his official website!  Andrew's Website
